In-text Citations:

  • Every sentence that contains information that is not common knowledge or that you had to look up requires an in-text citation

    • NOT JUST QUOTATIONS

  • Citations go at the end of the sentence in brackets, BEFORE the punctuation

  • Citations for MLA only need the last name of the author and the page number.

    • if there is no author for the source, put the company that published the source (e.g. SparkNotes)

    • If there is no page number, write "n.p." where the page number is shown

  • Whatever is put in the brackets should be the first word for that source in the Works Cited
